These days it’s not just the restaurants that are hiring. Food delivery apps are looking for part-time and full-time drivers to deliver food from all kinds of restaurants. They are making headlines due to their growing popularity among people who don’t have time or want to cook healthy meals at home.

What are the Requirements to Work for a Food Delivery App?
If you want to start working for a food delivery company, you need to know how they typically hire. There are no education requirements, experience isn’t always necessary and if you’re willing to work hard, food delivery services can give you great pay and flexible hours.
While details can vary by company, most hire drivers as independent contractors who set their hours. In most cases, workers must possess a valid driver’s license, pass a background check, and have reliable transportation.
What if we told you that not all food delivery services are created equal?
Having worked in the food delivery industry previously I’ve taken it upon myself to talk to other current delivery drivers and explore what it’s like working for the top food delivery services. The rankings are based on the following criteria:
- Earning potential
- Flexibility
- Tips and promotions

- “I’m making around $20-$30/hr, which consists of bonuses and base pay that increases depending on how many deliveries you make. The more deliveries the better! At first, I thought working at door dash would be easy but sometimes it gets very intense when customers are unwilling to wait over 20 minutes for their food or they complain about the time it’s taking us to get there.”
- “I enjoy the freedom and flexibility of working for Door Dash. The pay is great.”

2. Uber Eats
Uber Eats is an excellent option for people who want to start working for themselves without having to make all of the hustle. Uber has a variety of food options and they get your order to you in about half the time of other popular food delivery apps. The best part is that it’s all cashless, so you won’t have to deal with someone paying with a check or cash.
Driving for Uber Eats is a great way of making some extra cash. You sign up, create a profile and get going. First, you’ll need to have an iPhone or Android device. Then you’re ready to go! As long as you’ve been on the app before and it’s still on your phone then signing in will be easy.
For pickup orders, simply check the map for the order details and scroll through until you find it at that location on the map — while keeping in mind if there’s a cutoff time limit for accepting pickups. Once all of this is done, head straight over there with your specific instructions about who needs what items from their order bagged up or separate sealed bags depending on how they want their meal packed.
What sets Uber apart from other food delivery apps is that they allow you to include tips in the price of your order. No more tipping on top of a tip! One downside about this job is that you will not receive any benefits like health insurance or paid time off. That being said if you’re patient and hardworking it can be an excellent way to make extra money without having to invest much at all. If you’re persistent, stay calm under pressure, and have good customer service skills this job might just become your new side hustle.

You’ll earn about $20 an hour but sometimes more depending on how much work you’re willing to put in. To deliver groceries for Instacart, all you’ll need is a car or bike and access to a grocery store where you can find pretty much anything.
As long as it’s not frozen, doesn’t require refrigeration, and isn’t perishable in any way then it should be fine in your vehicle. Some items might even arrive at the customer’s doorstep in a temperature-controlled bag! Once all of this is done, head straight over there with your specific instructions about how to place the groceries in a bag or a box depending on what they want.
There are a few catches to take note of when it comes to working for Instacart. For instance, you’ll have to pay for the gas that you use while delivering items from yourself and whatever customer that you’re working for. In terms of insurance, Instacart only offers protection if there’s an accident while you’re driving their car for deliveries and not anything else like injuries or damages incurred due to negligence on your part. As long as safety isn’t an issue then this job might be perfect for anyone who already has access to a vehicle and wants an alternative way to make money.
